Welsh is the natural language of Wales though the majority of people in Wales now speak English. There is a revival taking place in order to preserve the language and this is evident in street names, signs etc. Usually signs that are printed in Welsh have an English translation alongside.

There are some Welsh language schools in Cardiff to which everyone can apply. These schools are just like any other except that lessons are taught using the Welsh Language.
In some parts of Wales the Welsh language is used by everyone who lives in the locality but in Cardiff the language is mainly English.
It should be explained that in Cardiff some signs are written in the Welsh language but this is usually followed by the English translation. Here are some examples to demonstrate:
