Transport
Buses are a useful form of transport and go to all areas of Cardiff. They have specific times for starting their journeys and pick up passengers from bus stops along the way. Bus fare (money for ticket) needs to be paid to the driver as soon as the bus is boarded and a ticket is issued by way of receipt. The correct fare is needed as no change is given by the driver. It is possible to get a ‘Day to Go’ ticket. With this you can travel by bus all day for one fare of about £3. 00 (subject to change). There are many routes and you can get a free time table from the Central Bus station office which is situated in Wood Street (near the train station). Alternatively you can look online www.cardiffbus.com and download a list of times for your area.
There are also taxis operating in Cardiff. These are usually privately owned cars that operate under one system. Taxis will always have a yellow plaque on the car indicating that they are legal taxis. It is not advisable to get into any car that does not display the taxi sign.
Taxi fares begin at approximately £2.50 as soon as you enter the car. During holiday times the fee can start at a higher rate than this. If you want to claim the money back from your employer, hospital, Court etc. you will need to ask the taxi driver for a receipt as this is your proof of payment.
