MEWN Cymru

Minority Ethnic Women's Network Wales

Minority Ethnic Women's Network Wales (MEWN Cymru)is an umbrella body representing ethnic minority(visible and non visible) women across Wales, regardless of their age, religious observance, ethnicity or life choices. MEWN CYMRU -   The vision of MEWN Cymru is to become the premier voluntary sector provider meeting and representing the needs of minority BME women by empowering them to develop their own initiatives or projects and encouraging them to participate fully in mainstream services.

  • We want to change the position of BME Women in Welsh society.
  • To provide a platform for the views of BME women in Wales.
  • To enable BME women to extend their knowledge and skills, and to encourage them to participate fully in local and national affairs as well as in voluntary activities and employment.
  • To provide each other with mutual support, sharing each other's expertise and experiences.
  • To represent the needs of BME women in policy forums and campaign on issues affecting them.
  • To promote anti-discriminatory practices.
  • To meet the needs of BME women within a welcoming and safe environment.
  • To raise the awareness and knowledge of service providers.

    SUFFERING FROM DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ?

    Don't suffer any longer, contact  BAWSO (www.bawso.org.uk) for help and advice from experts who specialise in dealing with women from BME communities. Alternatively, you can contact: Cardiff Women Aid is charity that works to protect and support women and children who are experiencing and escaping domestic violence and abuse. Contact Women's Aid Cardiff www.cardiffwomensaid.org Both organisations are sensitive to the need for absolute confidentiality in these situations
