Private rented accommodation usually has furniture included but Council and Housing
Association accommodation is empty. The tenant will need to buy furniture. If the
tenant is in receipt of Income Support or Disability Living Allowance you can help them
apply for a Community Care Grant or a Social Fund Loan.

Jobcentre Plus can supply forms or Google “Community Care Grant” for information and a form. Furniture can be expensive and so many people buy ‘second hand’ furniture. This is furniture that people have used and then given away to be sold. This is usually very cheap to buy and good furniture can be bought this way.
