It is important to pay for home contents insurance.

The Landlord will have insured the structure of the building but the contents must be insured by the tenant.  This is in case of fire damage or theft.

If tenants don’t do this it could mean they will not be able to claim money for any items they lose if there is a fire or a burglary at their home.  This is not  very costly and could save you a great deal if you should become the victim of crime.

Housing officers will have information about some Insurance Companies.  Some Companies have an Agreement with social landlords to charge cheaper rates for their Insurance Policies.
